France: Top mail carriers facing fines

Some of the world’s largest package delivery companies are reportedly facing competition fines in France as authorities investigate the firms for anticompetitive conduct.

    Reports say FedEx, TNT and Royal Mail have all revealed they are among the parcel companies facing possible fines in France after antitrust authorities launched an investigation into the industry in 2010. Exact details of the probe, however, were not reported.

    According to one analyst, TNT and Royal Mail could be fined tens of millions of dollars. Deutsche Post and La Poste also said their French units are part of the investigation.
