    The purchase of the top headphone manufacturer, founded by music mogul Dr. Dre, could be announced as early as next week, according to unnamed sources.

    Reports point out that Apple’s acquisition of Beats could be considered ironic, as Dr. Dre first founded the company in the wake of Apple revolutionizing the era of MP3 music, which is known to cause a loss in sound quality.

    HTC first acquired Beats in 2011 in a $300 million deal.
