Mexico: After ruling reversal, Cinemark proceeds with LatAm expansion

After the Mexican Federal Competition Commission reversed its decision to block UK-based cinema conglomerate Cinemark from selling its Mexican theatres, reports say the company is now ready to focus on the rest of Latin America.

    Cinemark looked to divest 31 theatres within Mexico to raise funds to expand throughout the rest of Latin America, repost say. The sale, made to Mexico’s Grupo Cinemex and Cadena Mexicana de Exhibicion, was originally blocked by the competition regulator last August. Following a reversal of the decision, however, Cinemark has reportedly finalized the sale of the theatres as of last Friday.
