Russia: Governor center of FAS competition probe

Perm Governor Viktor Basargin is now the center of an investigation by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service following accusations the lawmaker violated competition law in his choosing of a company to win a contract for construction of a new airport terminal.

    The governor reportedly faces up to $900 in fines.

    The case was launched after company Koltsovo-Invest won a tender to build the terminal at the Bolshoi Savino Airport, just outside of Perm. After the company was selected, competing company Basel Aero claimed it also bid for the project and filed a complaint with the watchdog.
