Asia: Malaysia highlights importance of unity in bid-rigging fight

Malaysia’s competition regulator MyCC hosted a joint workshop with the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development and the Korea Policy Centre last week in efforts to collaborate in the fight against bid-rigging. The three day-long event called Workshop on Fighting Bid Rigging, followed Malaysia’s agenda of prioritizing the end to bid-rigging and included several nations from throughout Asia. In her opening statements, MyCC Chairman Tan Sri Dato’Seri Siti Norma Yaakob highlighted the importance of unity among the ASEAN nations despite different economies and laws. According to reports, the workshop was specifically designed around educating regulators on the latest in cartel detection and methods to fight the practice of bid-rigging.
