Russia: Eight PVC makers formed cartel, says FAS

Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has released information that the antitrust authority has found a price-fixing cartel within the PVC market. In a statement, FAS head Alexander Kinyov said the information about the cartel came to light from cartel members themselves and noted that the case will be forwarded to the nation’s Interior Ministry for criminal prosecution, citing the income gained by cartel members from the scandal. The FAS began its investigation into the alleged cartel last year and ultimately found that eight companies began the cartel in 2005.
