Konkurransetilsynet recommends lifting airline bonus program ban for busy domestic routes

Christine Meyer, the head of Konkurransetilsynet (Norway’s competition authority) has recommended that the ban on bonus programs be lifted. The ban has been in place since 2002. It stemmed from concerns that Scandinavian Airlines would be able to obtain an unfair advantage through bonus programs. Today, flights between Oslo and Bergen, Oslo and Stavanger, and Oslo and Trondheim enjoy enough competition that the programs can be lifted for these domestic routes.
