India: CCI begins separate probes of stem cell market, 5 real estate cos

The CCI has announced an investigation into five real estate companies for apparent anticompetitive practices and has informed Parliament of the probe. The Companies include DLF, Larsen & Roubro, Tulip Infrtaech, J P Associates and Omaze. The investigation was initiated based on 23 cases filed against the five companies; the CCI has already fined DLF for abusing its dominance.

    The CCI has also opened a separate investigation into the stem cell sector over alleged unfair practices performed by hospitals and stem cell banks, restricting parents’ choice in where stem cells are preserved. Complaints have been filed alleging that the practice restricts competition.
