Brazil: CADE approves of ethanol giant two years after its formation

CADE, the nation’s antitrust regulator, has unconditionally approved of sugar and ethanol manufacturer Raizen two years after its formation. Raizen is the product of a joint venture between Cosan Limited and Royal Dutch Shell plc with a purpose to product ethanol, sugar and power in addition to supplying and distributing transportation fuel. Raizen is widely considered the largest ethanol producer in the world with an estimated 2.2 billion liters of production capacity per year.
