U.S.: After resistance, Hertz wins Dollar Thrifty

After a longstanding bid, Hertz Global Holdings Inc has earned approval to acquire Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group for $2.56 billion from antitrust authorities. Hertz has won the deal after agreeing to sell 13 additional counters at airports than originally intended. Additionally, Hertz will sell its Advantage brand. The acquisition has been met with a history of resistance, as Federal Trade Commissioner Rosch and the FTC’s Bureau of Economics have both previously spoken out against the deal.
