Russia: Railway monopoly leads to hefty fine

Russian Railways has been fined more than $70 million by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service for monopoly activities. The antitrust authority has been investigating the railway since several other companies, unions and others filed complaints about excessive pricing and unregulated fees. Russian Railways has reportedly denied claims of a monopoly and says it plans to appeal the fine.
