Russia: FAS approving of Telenor/Altimo split share in Vimpelcom

The Federal Antimonopolization Service of Russia is looking to send a positive message towards the Government Commission on Foreign Investments in regards to Telenor’s efforts to have equal stake in Vimpelcom with Altimo. Telenor and Altimo would buy and split 6 percent of a stake of Vimpelcom that is currently owned by Bertofan, eliminating Telenor’s dominant stake in Vimpelcom. FAS had previously brought a lawsuit against Telenor to contest the company’s majority stake in Vimpelcom.
