Egypt: CPA to investigate whether mobile cell phone cos. secretly raise prices
In response to customer complaints, the Consumer Protection Agency formally filed a complaint against the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) calling for an investigation into whether the nation’s top three mobile providers – Vodafone, Etisalat Egypt and Mobinil – have conspired to raise prepaid mobile credit card prices. The complaints accuse the companies of costing consumers a “stamp tax” on mobile credit since January 2012.
