US Airways to make FTC, DOJ filings for AMR merger

Reuters reports that US Airways is planning to file proposed merger paperwork with the FTC and DOJ for its bid to buy AMR Corp. AMR is the bankrupt parent company of American Airlines. Its creditors are considering a restructuring plan, in addition to merger options.

    US Airways is not planning a unilateral filing, but seeks the consent of AMR and its creditors. However, according to Reuters’ sources, US Airways is waiting for the outcome of AMR’s labor union negotiations before it makes its filing.
