Brazil: Antitrust approves Technicolor acquisition

Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) approved, without restrictions, the acquisition by Technicolor of Cisco’s Connected Devices division. It comprises the operations of the former Scientific Atlanta, acquired by Cisco in 2005, with the exception of the manufacturing and marketing of head-end video equipment businesses.

The subsidiary develops and markets set-top boxes, gateways, broadband modems and conditional access systems. The operation was also notified in the US, Canada, Colombia, Ukraine and The Netherlands.
