Hubert has joined Orrick in Paris as a partner after 12 years at CC, where he was Paris head of competition and European law.
Counsel Marie-Laure Combet and two associates from his team at CC will join Orrick at a later date to work alongside Hubert.
Hubert said: “My main plan is to develop a significant antitrust platform in Europe and address high tech clients’ needs. There is already some Orrick antitrust capability in Europe. The key reasons for my hire are to grow the antitrust team and tech client base.”
Before joining CC, Hubert held a number of senior government roles including chief of staff to the French Minister of Justice and general counsel and chief investigator with the French competition authority. He also served as a judge for the French supreme administrative court (Conseil d’Etat).
His hire is the latest in a string of partner hires for Orrick in Paris. Last April, the firm hired four partners from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer including Paris employment head Emmanuel Benard. In January, the firm also recruited Olswang Paris managing partner and corporate head Guillaume Kessler.
Hubert will be the sole competition partner at Orrick in Paris after Philippe Rincazaux retired earlier this year.
