Hausfeld Expands Competition Litigation Team in Washington

Hausfeld has announced the appointment of Daniel J. Walker as a partner in its Washington, D.C., office, further bolstering the firm’s claimant-side Antitrust and Competition practice in the United States, according to a statement from the firm.

    Walker joins Hausfeld with experience in both government enforcement and private practice. He previously served in the Federal Trade Commission’s Health Care Division and has represented consumers, workers, and other claimants in complex litigation involving some of the world’s largest corporations, per a statement.

    According to a statement, Walker has helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars in recoveries for claimants in cases involving alleged anticompetitive conduct across industries including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, technology, and agriculture. His background combines experience from private practice and his tenure at the FTC, where he worked on significant competition-related matters.

    Before joining Hausfeld, Walker held positions at a prominent plaintiffs’ law firm, where he played important roles in a number of major antitrust cases. Those matters included In re Broiler Chicken Grower Antitrust Litigation, In re Loestrin 24 Fe Antitrust Litigation, In re Titanium Dioxide Antitrust Litigation, and In re High Tech Employee Antitrust Litigation, among others, according to a statement.

    Walker also contributed to major pharmaceutical enforcement actions during his time at the FTC. Per a statement, he was involved in Federal Trade Commission v. AbbVie Inc. and Federal Trade Commission v. Cephalon Inc., cases that resulted in $1.2 billion in monetary relief for the FTC.

    Commenting on the appointment, Hausfeld Global Chair Brian A.     The addition of Walker reflects Hausfeld’s continued focus on expanding its antitrust litigation capabilities. The firm maintains U.S. offices in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., and also operates across the United Kingdom and continental Europe.
