UK: Competition Section of the Law Society of England & Wales has new chair

On November 1, Matt Evans, a partner in Jones Day’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, began his term as chair of the Competition Section of the Law Society of England and Wales. Mr. Evans served as vice chair of the Competition Section for the past year.

The Competition Section promotes knowledge and awareness of developments in competition law. The Competition Section provides programming with seminars, webinars, podcasts, and an annual conference that offers members guidance from experts with experience in the everyday, unique challenges facing competition law practitioners.

Mr. Evans is a leading advisor on UK and EU competition law. He represents clients seeking regulatory clearance for mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures before the Competition and Markets Authority and European Commission. He also advises clients on investigations into anticompetitive agreements and practices. Mr. Evans has experience across a range of industries, including financial services, energy, telecoms, technology, music, betting and gaming, fast moving consumer goods, environmental, and agriculture.
