US/Canada: FTC needs more info on medical equipment deal

    Nordion announced Friday that the FTC has requested more information from it and its planned acquirer, US-based Sterigenics, which will extend the waiting period by another 30 days.

    The $805 million merger between the medical device companies is still expected to close in the second half of this year, Nordion said.

    Sterigenics, which provides sterilization services, had to up its bid for the Canadian company twice to strike a merger deal. Nordion reportedly received rival bids from two unnamed buyers.
