US/Italy: Fiat may move to US following Chrysler merger

Italy-based car company Fiat has reportedly begun considerations into a possible move to the US following plans to merger with Chrysler Group, according to three sources. The move is in response to the majority of sales occurring in the US for the Italian company – in 2012, according to reports, 75 percent of operating profits were generated in North America. The sources said that the move is not official, and that regardless of future plans, headquarters will remain in Turin, Italy. Fiat declined to comment to reporters on the matter.
