US: Semiconductor makers forge $1.15B merger

US- based semiconductor materials makers Entegris and ATMI announced earlier this week they have inked a merger deal worth $1.15 billion.

    Reports say Entegris will acquire its competitor, and expects to finalize the acquisition in the second quarter of this year.

    The buyout remains subject to regulatory scrutiny as well as approval from ATMI shareholders.

    The merger news comes soon after ATMI sold its life sciences operations to Pall Corporation for $170 million; Entegris’s acquisition additionally depends upon the completion of that sale.
