Simpson Thacher & Bartlett announced that Peter Guryan, Sara Razi, and John Terzaken have been named Global Co-Chairs of the Firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice, and David Vann has been named as Head of Antitrust for Europe and Asia..
“As clients navigate their most challenging antitrust and trade regulation matters, they will benefit from the depth and diversity of experience brought by our new practice leaders,” said Paul Curnin, Global Co-Chair of Simpson Thacher’s Litigation Department.

Peter Guryan focuses his practice on representing major corporations and private equity firms in a wide range of antitrust matters, particularly mergers and acquisitions, and investigations by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as well as the European Commission and antitrust authorities globally. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Antitrust Division of the DOJ.
A former senior official at the FTC for nearly a decade, Sara Razi is based in the Firm’s Washington, DC, office where she represents companies across a variety of industries on merger reviews, antitrust litigation, and counseling on competition issues. She also has extensive experience advising clients on antitrust investigations by the DOJ, FTC, and state attorneys general.
John Terzaken, former Director of Criminal Enforcement of the DOJ’s Antitrust Division, is also based in Washington, DC, and represents clients in government enforcement actions and private litigation involving cartel and other alleged antitrust violations, market sector investigations and antitrust compliance.
