India Names New Head Of Antitrust Commission

Ravneet Kaur has been appointed as the chairperson of India’s antitrust body, the Competition Commission of India, for a five-year term, as per a government order viewed by Reuters on Tuesday.

    According to Kaur’s LinkedIn profile, she has had various government positions over the past 20 years, including serving as chairperson of India Tourism Development Corp from 2017 to 2019.

    The appointment of the head of the watchdog has been delayed for several months, which has affected the functioning of the body, according to antitrust lawyers.

    The commission is currently conducting an investigation into alleged anti-competitive practices by some of the largest companies in the world, such as Apple, Amazon, and Walmart’s Flipkart.
