Assorted NYC businesses have taken to food delivery apps including Seamless to resell at-home coronavirus antigen tests for well above retail price, Vice reported.
While a search of “COVID test” on both platforms generates an array of logical vendors — Rite Aid, CVS and other pharmacies — it also pulls up a variety of restaurants, ghost kitchens, liquor stores, delis and pet food shops also selling the coveted tests — and for much more than their retail value.
One Manhattan deli is advertising a Binax brand two-pack of tests for $80 on Seamless — $56 more than it’s $24 retail value, Vice reported. The unit is listed in the shop’s “new items” section, alongside other more rational purchase options including garlic bread and corn dogs.
At Pet Foods by Village Farm, which lists its address as being in Manhattan, the Binax two-packs — as well as a variety of other brands of at-home tests — are selling for $49.99.
The Post called Pet Foods By Village Farm, which lists its address at 146 2nd Ave., and a worker promptly hung up when asked about the online price gouged items.
