EC Appointments New Competition Hearing Officer

The European Commission announced that it has appointed Mr Eric Gippini Fournier as Hearing Officer for competition cases. He will join Hearing Officer Dorothe Dalheimer as of 1 December 2021.

    Eric Gippini Fournier is currently a Legal Advisor in the Legal Service of the Commission. He has previously held positions in the Directorate General (DG) responsible for the Internal Market and in the Commission’s Legal Service, as well as was a member of the cabinet of the President of the European Court of Justice.

    The Hearing Officer acts as independent arbiter when a dispute arises about the effective exercise of procedural rights in merger and antitrust proceedings and is responsible for organizing and conducting oral hearings in these cases.
