Spain Probes Renewable Power Supplier Audax

Spanish competition regulator CNMC on Wednesday, April 21, announced that it has opened an investigation into domestic renewable power and gas supplier Audax Renovables, alleging that the company used fraud and deceit to gain customers.

    The company is said to have used “irregular commercial practices” that deceived and confused household consumers of power and gas, with the goal to entice them to switch suppliers in favor of Audax and its retailers. The company is suspected of employing these practices since at least 2018, the antitrust watchdog stated.

    The CNMC decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings after receiving numerous complaints and collecting information from the Organisation of Consumers and Users (OCU). The body is due to complete the investigation and settle the case in up to 18 months.
