Global: Belarus, Latvia to cooperate in competition policy

Belarus and Latvia will cooperate in the area of competition policy and the protection of consumer rights. The relevant memorandum has been signed by the Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry and the Latvian Economy Ministry, BelTA has learned.

    The document was signed during the 14th session of the Belarus-Latvia intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, and technical cooperation in Minsk on October 2. Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko and Latvian Transport Minister Talis Linkaits took part in it.

    In particular, the memorandum provides for sharing non-confidential information in the area of protection of consumer rights, for oversight over the market and competition policy, for sharing the best practices in investigating violations of antimonopoly (competition) laws, laws on consumer rights, and advertising. It also provides for arranging educational trips and additional training courses for experts, including those that deal with court cases.
