EU: Vestager picks new head of cabinet

According to Politico, Margrethe Vestager’s cabinet will be run by Kim Jørgensen, who is currently the Danish ambassador to the EU.

    Vestager was on Tuesday, September 10, appointed the Commission’s executive vice president for digital. The Danish commissioner will also continue as the EU’s competition chief.

    “Kim holds master degree in History from the University of Copenhagen and have worked for years with EU policy and foreign policy. That is so good. Even better: He has a sense of humour and is a team player!” Vestager tweeted in announcing her decision.

    Jørgensen is the former director of foreign policy at the foreign ministry, and worked as a diplomat in Ankara, Berlin, and Paris.

    “It will be a new and exciting task and I promise [sic] to bring humor and team spirit,” Jørgensen tweeted.
