Argentina: Banks Galicia and Patagonia reveal sale price of shares in Prisma

Argentine banks Galicia and Patagonia revealed last Monday the sale price for their shares in the Prisma company, which was bought by US-based Advent fund in January as part of a ruling by the competition authorities.

    The sale of Prisma was completed after an investigation by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition (CNDC), who determined that the Prisma company held a dominant position in the payments sector in Argentina, ordering its prompt divestment.

    Prisma, a company that owns the operating license for Visa and Banelco, was owned by 14 banks operating in Argentina. Patagonia reported that it would have sold its shares for US$37.8 million, while Galicia determined a final price of US$104.4 million
