Mexico: COFECE seeks MX$1.9 million austerity savings

Mexico’s Federal Commission of Economic Competition (COFECE) will apply various measures to save at least $1.9 million pesos as part of the austerity policies promoted by the federal government. The savings will come mainly through cutting social communication activities and in the reduction by 53% of the Commission’s radio and television advertising budget .

    Other cuts and adjustments will be made, such as a 15% cut in national travel expenses for executives, as well as the creation of a subcommittee in charge of overseeing the purchasing of airline tickets by the agency and its members.

    “These measures are in accordance with the policy promoted by the Mexican State and do not affect the fulfillment of the objectives established for the Commission in the year corresponding to 2019, in accordance with the principles of austerity, efficiency and transparency,” COFECE stated.
