Mexico: Naturgy denounced before COFECE

Federal Congressman Santiago Gonzalez filed a complaint through the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and the Federal Competition Commission (COFECE) of Mexico to determine whether natural gas company Naturgy should continue to hold an operating license in Nuevo León, given innumerable complaints registered since the first of March over high prices on gas bills, which have increased up to 100 percent.

    “We want them to tell us if the exclusivity clause still exists and if it no longer exists it means that there may be more bids that offer the service, this through the additional resources that were presented to the CRE and the COFECE” said the federal legislator.

    “… what we are asking is that their measurement systems are adequate, they can not be charging arbitrarily, which is a violation of consumer law”, concluded the senator.
