Bolivia: Swedish companies boost transparency and free competition

Some 30 Swedish companies and brands active in the Bolivian market have joined the Pact for Transparency and the Fight against Corruption, which seeks to give greater visibility to companies that carry out their business within an ethical framework.

    The agreement establishes that each signatory company will implement, freely and voluntarily, programs, actions and projects to aid transparency and fight against corruption according to its nature and needs. In addition, it floats the possibility of creating anonymous whistle-blowing mechanisms among its workers or intermediaries and to pursue legal actions when necessary.

    The companies have also committed to meet at least once a year, with the aim of exchanging experiences and developing practices that can strengthen this alliance. “Corruption is a complex problem for the public and private sectors, it distorts the market, as well as free and fair competition,” said Pontus Rosenberg, Chargé d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy, ​​which is behind the initiative.
