Argentina: SME confederation asks for review of Copyright fees

The CAME (Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises) has embarked on an effort to reduce copyright costs for its members, asking all its partners to prepare a letter to the Argentine Society of Authors and Composers (SADAIC) to set a meeting and renegotiate the established rates for music reproduction, currently the highest in Latin America.

    The hotel sector has already had positive results in this matter, having received a favorable ruling from the Court of Justice, forcing SADAIC to pay a fine of $47 million pesos, (US$1.1 million) over what it considered excessive charges.

    The CAME sent a letter to the SADAIC requesting that the copyright charges set for SMEs be reviewed, following the recommendation by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition (CNDC) , in order to arrive at a solution that benefits all the sectors involved.
