Netherlands: Competition attorney named new head of Dutch regulator

Martijn Snoep has been named the new head of the Dutch consumer, competition and telecom regulator ACM. Snoep is a partner at the law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and will join the Dutch regulator from September. He replaces Chris Fonteijn, who stepped down in May after seven years heading the ACM and its predecessor NMa.

    Snoep worked 28 years at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, focusing on competition law for business customers in the Netherlands and abroad. He served as chairman of the firm from 2010 to 2016.
