Peru: Indecopi ratifies sanction to Nortfarma over price fixing

Peru’s Competition Defense Authorities have confirmed the sanction applied to the Nortfarma company, whose commercial name is Boticas Felicidad, over its participation in a price fixing cartel for medicines and nutritional supplements.

    Nortfarma was the only company that appealed the sanction first imposed on a group of Pharmacies, including Farmacias Peruanas, (Fasa), Albis (Arcángel), Eckerd Peru (Inkafarma and Mifarma) – due to the practice horizontal collusions.

    In its resolution, the authority verified that Nortfarma participated in the collusion detected in the period between 01 and 08 February 2008 and during the month of September of the same year, using a common supplier (Laboratorio Albis) as an intermediary to coordinate prices.
