Australia: Small business accused of wheelchair cartel

According to WA Today, a family business that produces wheelchairs for the elderly has become the first Australian company targeted in a criminal cartel case.

    The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announced on Thursday, February 15, that criminal charges had been laid against The Country Care Group, a Mildura-based company producing continence products, mobility aids and other aged-care items.

    Charges were also laid against the company’s chief executive and owner, Robert Hogan, and former business development manager Cameron Harrison.

    While the ACCC did not outline the allegations in detail, it said that the charges relate to alleged cartel conduct involving assisted technology products used in rehabilitation and aged care, including beds and mattresses, wheelchairs and walking frames.
