The Commission for the Defense of Free Competition (CLC) has set fines totalling more than S / 11 million (USD $ 3.15 million approximately) on 16 fuel companies. The companies have been accused of participated in a secret price agreement (cartel) to set the sale price of vehicular LPG, between June 2012 and February 2014. The practice was developed at the level of LPG service stations, whose main customers are taxi drivers.
The sanctioned companies include: Solgas S.A. (when it was linked to Repsol), Chimbote Corp. SAC, Servicentro Casuarinas SAC, Servicentro UNR SAC, Grifos Espinoza SA, Corporación Dino SAC, Energigas SAC, Station and Services Grefaan SAC, Compañía General de Combustibles SAC, E and G Perú SAC, GLP Granel SAC, Petrogas SRL, Petrogas Chimbote SAC, Transports and Servicios Múltiples SA, Costa Gas Services Station EIRL and Daytona S.A.C.
The sanctioned cartel operated secretly between 2012 and 2014, through coordination carried out between officials and employees of competing service stations and members of the Ancash Costa Association of Service Stations.
