Following in the footsteps of a Toronto law firm law week, a class action lawsuit was filed in a federal court in New Jersey by Robins Kaplan and Carella Byrne Cecchi Olstein Brody & Agnello on July 28. The class action was filed against Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche and Bentley accusing the automakers of colluding to sell their vehicles at inflated prices in the US.
Specifically, the lawsuit claims that the companies raised the prices of their cars by reaching agreements regarding technology, suppliers and emissions controls.
Parent company of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler North America Corp., said in response to the lawsuit that they “consider this class action suit to lack merit. We will defend ourselves by all legal means.”
