Telecom Argentina, una de las principales compañías de telefonía móvil y fija en el país, así como proveedor de telecomunicaciones móviles en Paraguay anunció su intención de fusionarse con Cablevisión, proveedor líder de servicios de TV paga y banda ancha en Argentina y segundo proveedor de televisión de pago en Uruguay, para crear un proveedor líder de servicios de telecomunicaciones convergentes y aprovechar la apertura del sector de telecomunicaciones, que se espera comience en enero de 2018.
