Mexico: COFECE appoints new head of investigations

The Federal Commission for Economic Competition (COFECE) appointed Sergio López Rodríguez as new head of investigations. These movements follow the resignation presented by Carlos Mena Labarthe, who leaves the Investigating Authority on the last day of June.

    The new head of investigations holds an honorable mention from the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Sergio López has dedicated 15 years of his professional career to the exercise of competition law.

    The investigation unit within the COFECE responsible for processing investigations for monopolistic practices and illicit hires.

    The Plenary asked Sergio López to maintain the rigor observed in the work developed by his new department. He was also asked to preserve the technical capital built from its creation with the constitutional reform of 2013.

    For his part, the new head said that he will maintain the strategic approach and capacity building that have characterized the development of the activities of his new department.
