Sugimoto focuses his practice on two distinct areas, namely:

-Complex competition law investigations, including international cartels and abusive practices, extending to merger control proceedings and antitrust counselling, and

-Data protection and cybersecurity issues, especially assisting leading Japanese companies on how to navigate through data protection regulations, applying for binding corporate rules and securing data protection authorities’ approval for data transfers.

“We are very pleased to have Takeshige join us,” said Peter Alexiadis, Partner in Charge of the Brussels office. “His extensive experience in handling antitrust and data protection matters is a welcome addition to our European practice. Data protection-related issues are key elements in Japanese companies’ decision-making in Europe. Takeshige not only fits in perfectly with our Brussels and US antitrust practice, but also with our data protection practice in Paris and London, as well as our Japanese commercial focus through our new Frankfurt office.”
