UK: CMA launches “cracking down on cartels” campaign

    The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched its first ever public campaign in a bid to clamp down on activity which distorts competition within industries and often leads to consumers paying more than they might have done in a completely open market.

    The body, whose work in this area has focused on compliance training for the business community, is also hoping to raise awareness of what a cartel is in a bid to improve the level of reporting on them to authorities by both individuals who learn of one and early admittance by those involved.
