El Salvador’s competition regulator celebrated this year’s World Competition Day by holding the First Interuniversity Competition Contest, with five teams from three Universities competed in analyzing a hypothetical case of abuse of dominance. The contestants were two teams from the Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios (ESEN), two from the Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC) and one from the Universidad Francisco Gavidia.
The contest consisted of a hypothetical anticompetitive practices case, with each team given five days to analyze and propose a solution for the case. The teams presented their analyses on Monday before a jury, which will determine the winner.
The jury is formed by Celina Escolan Suay, an attorney and the country’s first ever Competition Superintendent from 2006 to 2009. She is joined by Rafael Gómez, manager for the Grupo CASSA law firm and by Aldo Cader, attorney and currently head of the SC’s Investigations wing.
