As part of a seven-lawyer promotions round, German firm Gleiss Lutz has bolstered its competition offering by appointing a Brussels partner and two Stuttgart counsel.
Stuttgart-headquartered Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch has elevated Christian von Köckritz to partner in its latest promotions round, effective 1 January 2017.
Having joined the firm’s Brussels office in 2008, Köckritz represents German and international companies in competition litigation before German and European courts, as well as before the European Commission and German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt). His particular strengths lie in European merger control, cartel investigations and distribution cartel issues.
He acted for German building materials company HeidelbergCement, one of the firm’s major clients, in merger control proceedings before the European Commission, and before the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in a dispute relating to the Commission’s investigative powers in competition proceedings.
Köckritz’s clients also include the German Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights, the UK collecting society PRS for Music and the Swedish Performing Rights Society, which he represented before the Commission in proceedings regarding pan-European licences for online music services. In addition, he acted for German specialty chemicals manufacturer Evonik Degussa in interim relief proceedings before the ECJ relating to publication of information from leniency application.
