US: Antitrust hearings scheduled to investigate AT&T-Time Warner merger

The Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chuck Grassley and Patrick Leahy, along with Chairman and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Antitrust Competition and Policy and Consumer Rights, Mike Lee and Amy Klobuchar, have announced the Antitrust subcommittee will be holding a hearing on the proposed deal between AT&T and Time Warner.

    That hearing will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Judiciary Committee hearing room in Washington, DC Both CEOs, Randall Stephenson of AT&T and Jeffrey Bewkes of Time Warner, will testify at the hearing which will examine the impact of the proposed transaction on consumers. This includes the implications for competition and innovation in the creation and distribution of video content.
