This deal will further cement Flixbus’ position as the practically undisputed market leader in the German bus travel sector. In November, Postbus routes are expected to become part of the rapidly expanding Flixbus route network.

In a similar deal just two months ago, the three-year old Flixbus took over British bus travel giant Megabus’ retailing business in continental Europe. The combined deals mean that Deutsche Bahn will be elevated to the second largest bus company in Germany.

Postbus was started as a collaborative project of the German postal service group Deutsche Post and automobil club ADAC, which both happen to have black and yellow as its official company colours. Before the Flixbus takeover, ADAC had already ended its partnership in the company in 2014.
