Allen & Overy LLP has announced that it has bolstered its antitrust practice group in its Amsterdam office with the addition of the former senior director for antitrust at Philips Lighting.
Yvo de Vries will join the firm’s global antitrust practice as a partner on Sept. 1, Allen & Overy said on June 3.
The antitrust pro started his legal career at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and later was chairman of the European Union litigation department for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concentrating on European law.
In his role at the EU, de Vries represented the Netherlands in numerous proceedings before the Court of Justice in Luxembourg, Allen & Overy said.
“We are very pleased that Yvo has agreed to join our global antitrust practice,” Ferdinand Grapperhaus, senior partner of the Amsterdam office, said in a statement. “The unique combination of his experience as a lawyer, a litigator in Luxembourg and an in-house counsel at Philips make him a huge asset to our practice.”
