El Salvador: Country steps into presidency Regional Competition Network

The country of El Salvador has taken up the year-long pro tempore presidency of RECAC, the Central American Network of National Competition Authorities, informed the Competition Superintendence. The handover took place during the most recent meeting between delegates, with Costa Rica’s Competition Commission handed over the office.

    RECAC’s presidency is rotated yearly, in alphabetical order, among National institutions in charge of enforcing competition laws. As such, Saladorean Superintendent Franciso Díaz Rodríguez will be imbued with the powers set in the network’s Article 15.

    RECAC’s objective is to coordinate the efforts of Central America’s various competition authorities in order to create mechanisms that will allow for better defence and promotion of competition within their markets, ease cross-institutional cooperation and to contribute to the economic and social integration of the region.
