Brazil: CADE releases guidelines for competition compliance

Brazil’s competition authority, CADE, has released a preliminary proposal for new guidelines on Competition Compliance Programs – a series of internal measures meant to prevent or minimise the impact and frequency of violations, and to aid in their early detection.

    The guidelines’ aim is to help companies to create internal procedures that will allow them to avoid troubles with competition authorities, particularly related to restricted or forbidden practices.

    CADE will now hold a series of meetings to review the guidelines, and will receive suggestions and criticisms from experts and civil society until October 18th. All comments and suggestions may be sent to guiadecompliance@cade.gov.br, to be considered by the authority.
