China: LatAm tour kicks off with Brazil deals

Brazil and China signed a massive 35 investment and International Cooperation agreements, totalling over $53 billion. The deals include financing deals for Petrobras, as well as the purchase of up to 60 aircraft from Brazilian manufacturer Embraer.

    The investment package, dubbed as the Joint Action Plan 2015-2022, signed by President Dilma Rousseff, “inaugurates a new stage in our relationship”. The Head of State hailed both countries’ contributions to the building of a “New global order”.

    One of the best-known projects related to the plan involves the possible building of a cross-continent railway, cutting from Brazil’s east to the shores of Peru to ease the flow of Brazilian goods to China.
